Titus Channer is the founder and Head Coach of New Horizon Basketball. Titus passion for teaching began 20 years ago, over which time he has ran camps, clinics, and workshops throughout Canada and Europe. His main focus is on skill development for all ages, and improving the whole athlete.  He believes fundamental training teaches youth how to improve their game both mentally and physically through a variety of basketball concepts.

 

Titus attended McMaster University, where he has made his mark as the schools All–time leading scorer and was inducted to the McMaster Hall of Fame. His impact was immediately felt during his first couple seasons, were he earned the titles of both the McMaster and Ontario Rookie of the Year and Second Team University All-Canadian two years straight.

 

In his final two seasons, Titus was named McMaster’s Athlete of the year, Ontario’s Player of the Year, and First Team University All-Canadian, as well as the 1998 Mike Moser Award for the Canadian University Basketball Player of the Year and The BLG Award for Canadian University Athlete of the Year.

 

Titus next goal was to play professionally, where he had a successful professional career playing in Europe for 7 years. He  would go on to became a member of the Canadian Men’s National Basketball Team, winning a silver medal at the World University Games, and playing as the starting point guard for the 2002 World Championships with Steve Nash. 

 

It is quite plain to see that basketball has been a huge part of Titus’ life, and he is thrilled to bring his knowledge and love of the game to New Horizon Basketball. By creating the New Horizon Basketball Academy, he hopes to inspire young basketball players to live their dream and reach the highest level they wish to achieve.
