SKILLS ACADEMY

(Co-ed Ages 5-14)

New Horizons Skills Academy are weekly lessons designed to improve the athletes over all skill level.  Trained by our professional coaches we focus on fundamental, technical improvement and complete player development. The players are grouped according to age and skill level.

In order to maximize the athlete’s growth and improvement New Horizon’s staff will provide the proper player/coach ratios at a level where we can provide individualized attention and immediate feedback.

Our staff is dedicated to helping players realize their potential and to create a passion for improvement. We want players to feel an excitement for the game of basketball and an increased desire to practice on their own.

LESSON STRUCTURE:

60% of lessons will specialize in fundamental skill development and strength and conditioning. 40% of lesson is game play, where the athletes can practice what they have learned in a game like atmosphere.

SKILL LEVEL:

Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

New Horizon will also incorporate a Strength and Conditioning component into the weekly lessons throughout a full session. Our lessons will combine basketball training with highly specialized strength and conditioning training.

Athletes will be taught the importance of dynamic warm-up, endurance training, overall co-ordination training and specific strength exercises to enhance players overall athleticism. Athletes will acquire a variety of skills and an understanding of what it means to train successfully.
